You Can't Beat the Dutch

Sales Policy

Please read through our sales policy before making a decision to purchase a rabbit from us.  As a breeder I try to be fair to everyone who is interested in a Beltaine Rabbit.  I will hold a rabbit for a 50% deposit if the hold is longer than a week (example: buyer contacts me on Tuesday interested in a rabbit, but can not come pick it up until Saturday=no deposit,  buyer contacts me on Tuesday interested in a rabbit, but can not come and pick it up until 2 weeks from day of contact = deposit required)  I have the right to waive the deposit fee if I feel that the situation demands it.

Please feel free to contact me about my rabbits.  I may be willing to sell something even if I don't have it on the sale page.  It never hurts to ask!

  • For persons under the age of 16. I require a signature of a parent on the bill of sale before I will let the rabbit leave my property. Due to laws pertaining to a minor signing a contract, I feel it is necessary to have an adult sign a bill of sale, stating that they have been told of any disqualifications, age, sex, etc, for that specific rabbit.

  •  Rabbits will not be sold until 7 weeks of age.  I have the right to keep a kit longer if I feel it is necessary. If that happens I will contact the potential buyer ASAP.

  • I do not ship my rabbits, however I will deliver them free to any show I plan on attending. If you have contacted me about a show, and things change I will try to make arrangements to get the rabbit to you.

  • I do offer a limited guarantee on rabbits health for 7 days after it leaves my barn.  I will offer a refund or replace the rabbit (similar value) if I am contacted and shown proof from a Licensed Vet of the problem. However in an effort to protect myself and my rabbits,  I do retain the right to offer this guarantee on a limited case by case basis. This  does not cover neglect, housing injuries, injuries after leaving my barn, abuse, mis-handling, exposure to illness after having left my barn, attacks by animals,  food choices by the new owner (including giving young rabbits treats, or feeding bad pellets, moldy hay etc)

  • I guarantee that at the time of sale, the rabbit leaving my barn is healthy and shows no signs of sickness such as diarrhea, eye/nasal discharge, ear mites, or malocclusion of the teeth.

  • I will take a rabbit sold from my rabbitry back at no charge to myself or to the owner at any time for any reason, not related to health of the rabbit.  I understand that personal situations and life situations can happen to anyone at any time.  I do not want to see any of my rabbits in a shelter or let loose.  As a responsible breeder it is my obligation to offer a home to any of Beltaine's rabbits even years after they were sold.

Quality Definitions

Pet Quality - - These rabbits are deemed pet quality due to a DQ fault in either type, fur, or color, or pattern,  in accordance with the ARBA standard of perfection. However this does not mean that the rabbit would not make a good pet.  I do not sell known aggressive rabbits as pets.  However I can not guarantee that a rabbit will not display signs of cage aggression or territorial issues  if it is handled incorrectly or if it was subject to abuse, neglect, or otherwise mis-treated in some way, or due to puberty.  Because of this I suggest all rabbits being sold as pets get neutered to help reduce the risk of puberty related aggression and some health problems.

Brood Quality - - These rabbits have been deemed unworthy of show but would be a good addition to a breeding herd. These animals may also be used as pet.  I do not guarantee that these rabbits (proven or not) will produce live kits for the new owner.

Show Quality - - These rabbits have been found to be free of DQ's according to the ARBA standard of perfection, at the time of sale. For Jr.s being sold this does not guarantee that they will mature into show quality rabbits, for Sr.s this does not mean they will continue to go on to win at shows.

I am fair and honest when it comes to quality of my rabbits.  I feel it is not beneficial to either myself, my rabbitry, or the new owners to make promises or guarantees on a rabbits quality that may change as they mature or  change due to accidents, sunburn, feed quality etc.  I am also fair in pricing and price all my rabbits as indivduals according to their breeding, personality, earlier wins, and confirmation.
