10-17-09 : I have nothing for sale at this time, and will not be breeding again until the beginning of the year 2010. Litter will be due in March at the earliest.
Beltaine Rabbitry started out as a small scale breeder of Mini Rex and then switched to Netherland Dwarfs for a short amount of time. However as a family we are all taken with the Dutch rabbit and have decided that is where we want to be breed wise, and show wise also. We will only be breeding Chocolate Dutch at this time. I have decided the best way for me to concentrate on getting good animals is to limit my colors.
We are a very small rabbitry consisting of about 5 holes right now and planning on expanding by another 9 by next spring. This means that once we get stock and get settled we will generally have rabbits for sale.
We will not sell a rabbit until they are at least 8 weeks old. We wean at 6 to 7 weeks and then keep them a week to make sure they do well with being separated from mom. It is also a city/state law in my area that rabbits can not be sold until they are 8 weeks old. This is a law that is for the benefit of the animal, and one that I think should be followed even if the laws stated otherwise.

Beltaine is a Celtic festival which signals the beginning of the bright half of the year. Beltaine may be translated as "fires of Bel" or "brilliant fire" and is name after the celtic god Belenus.
The festival begins on Beltane Eve with two bonfires started from nine different woods. Domestic animals and people pass between the bonfires to eliminate disease and misfortune. In the days before electricity, the bonfire was used to light brands which rekindled lights throughout households in the village. Ancient Beltane festivals customarily included dancing around the maypole, and singing.
